Every clause on this page is filed under a shade from the shop's own card: the swatch and its reference on the left, the clause beside it. The references are colours, not positions.

Who is responsible for your information

Maksym Ahapodchenko, trading as Monograms, of 106 St Matthew's Gardens, Cambridge CB1 2PT, England, United Kingdom. He is the data controller for everything described on this page, and he can be written to at support@monograms.live.

Monograms is a trading name of Maksym Ahapodchenko, a sole trader. There is no company and no company number: the person named above is the one responsible, and he answers data protection questions himself.

What is collected, and where it comes from

  • What you write to the shop. Your name, your email address and whatever you put in the message. It reaches the shop because you sent it from your own email program - the forms on this site hand a finished letter to that program rather than transmitting anything themselves.
  • What an order carries. The name and email address you give at the checkout, the collections ordered, the amount, and your two answers to the questions about when the download may begin. The last two are kept because regulation 16 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 requires the shop to be able to show what you agreed to.
  • Server logs. The company that hosts this site records the ordinary things a web server records: the address your request came from, the page asked for, the time, and what browser asked for it. That happens for every site on the internet and is how a server is kept working and secure.
  • The basket, in your own browser. The references of the collections you have chosen, stored by your browser on your own device. It is not sent anywhere, the shop cannot read it, and clearing your browser storage removes it.

No cookies are set by this site, no analytics run on it, no advertising or social networks are embedded in it, and nothing here tracks you across other sites.

What it is used for

  • Answering what you wrote, and keeping the thread of a conversation.
  • Taking, delivering and supporting an order, and re-issuing a download link.
  • Keeping the records that tax law requires of a business.
  • Keeping the site running, and dealing with abuse of it.

It is not used for anything else. There is no mailing list on this site, nothing is sold or passed to anybody for their own purposes, and you will not be written to for marketing because you bought something.

The legal grounds

  • A contract, and the steps before one (Article 6(1)(b) of the UK GDPR). Answering a question about a collection, taking an order and delivering the files.
  • A legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)). Keeping the records of a sale that tax law requires, and keeping the regulation 37 answers that the Consumer Contracts Regulations require.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)). Keeping the site working and secure, and answering a message from somebody who never becomes a customer. The interest is the plain one of being able to run and defend a small business, and it is weighed against your own interests: nothing here is profiled, scored or shared for anybody else's benefit.

Who else sees it

  • The company that hosts this site, which necessarily handles the server logs described above.
  • The email provider that carries a message between you and the shop.
  • A payment provider, once payment is connected. Card details go to that provider on its own page and never reach this site, so what the shop sees of a payment is that it happened, for how much, and against which order.
  • An accountant, where one is engaged, and HMRC, as part of the records a business has to keep.

They are given here by what they do rather than by name because the owner has not settled on every one of them yet; ask and you will be told which they are. Nobody else receives your information, and it is never sold or exchanged.

Information leaving the United Kingdom

The shop is run from Cambridge and does not itself move your information abroad. A hosting or email provider may store or process it outside the United Kingdom; where it does, the transfer is made to a country the UK has found adequate, or under the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, which are the safeguards UK law provides for.

Ask and you will be told where the providers in use at that moment hold information.

How long things are kept

  • Messages and enquiries: while the conversation is live, and then for 12 months, in case you write again about the same thing.
  • Order records: six years from the end of the tax year the order falls in, which is what the records behind a tax return have to cover.
  • Server logs: 30 days, then overwritten by the host.
  • The basket in your browser: until you clear it or clear your browser storage. It is on your device, not the shop's.

What you can ask for

You can ask the shop to:

  • tell you what it holds about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that is wrong;
  • delete what it no longer needs to keep;
  • restrict what is done with it while a question about it is settled;
  • give you what you provided in a portable form, where it was given for a contract or on consent;
  • stop using it where the ground is legitimate interests, by objecting - say why, and the shop either stops or explains what compelling grounds it thinks it has.

Write to support@monograms.live. There is no charge, and an answer comes within one month, which is the period the law allows; in practice a written message is acknowledged within two working days. Some records cannot be deleted on request - the record of a sale has to be kept for tax - and where that is the case you will be told which and why.

Complaining

Write to the shop first: support@monograms.live. If that does not settle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, or through ico.org.uk. Complaining to the ICO does not take away any other right you have.

Whether you have to give anything

No. Nothing on this site has to be filled in, and you can read every page of it without giving anything at all.

What follows from not giving it is practical rather than punitive: without an email address there is nowhere to send a reply, and without a name and an address for the files an order cannot be delivered.

Automated decisions

There are none. Nothing here decides anything about you automatically, nobody is profiled, scored or sorted, and every answer you get from this shop is written by the person who runs it.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies. The one thing it stores in your browser is the basket - the references of the collections you have chosen - held in your browser's own storage on your device.

No consent banner asks you about it because none is needed: regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations requires consent for storage that is not strictly necessary, and a basket is the service you asked for when you pressed the button. It is not used to recognise you, it is not sent anywhere, and it goes when you clear your browser storage for this site.

Changes to this policy

If this changes, the revised policy is published here and the date at the head of the page changes with it. This edition is dated 17 September 2026.

A change is never applied backwards: information already collected goes on being handled under the policy in force when it was given, unless the change is one that gives you more protection rather than less.
